Once you reach Barshaini, you'll find the trailhead for the Kheerganga trek. From here, you can begin your trekking adventure through the picturesque landscapes of the Parvati Valley towards Kheerganga. The trek takes approximately 4-6 hours to reach the summit, depending on your pace and fitness level.

It's advisable to check the weather forecast and road conditions before planning your trip and to carry essential supplies such as water, snacks, first aid kit, and appropriate clothing for the trek. Additionally, consider booking accommodation in advance if you plan to stay overnight at Kheerganga.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and Trek to Kheerganga

Morning:

  • Arrive at Barshaini: Reach Barshaini, the starting point of the Kheerganga trek, by early morning. You can travel to Barshaini from nearby cities like Kasol, Manali, or Bhuntar.

Trek Start:

  • Begin Trek: Start your trek to Kheerganga from Barshaini. The trekking trail is well-marked and passes through scenic landscapes, dense forests, and several streams.

Evening:

The trek to Kheerganga usually takes around 5-7 hours one way, depending on your pace and fitness level. It’s recommended to start early in the morning to avoid trekking during dark or adverse weather conditions.

 

The trek to Kheerganga is considered moderately difficult. The trail involves a gradual ascent with some steep sections, rocky paths, and narrow passages. However, with proper preparation and pacing, most people with average fitness levels can complete it.

 

Essential items to pack include sturdy trekking shoes, comfortable clothing (preferably in layers), a waterproof jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat, water bottles, snacks, a first-aid kit, a flashlight or headlamp, and a sleeping bag if you plan to stay overnight.

Yes, there are several guesthouses, cafes, and campsites available at Kheerganga where you can stay overnight. However, during peak seasons, it’s advisable to book in advance. Camping is also allowed, but make sure to respect the local guidelines and leave no trace.
